What is a Travel Agent and why should I use one?
This is a question I get all the time! The number of Travel Agents for Disney & Universal studios has increased significantly over the years and every agency operates a little differently. The information provided below describes my standard practice and a bit about my path to becoming an agent.
Payment for Services
One of the most common questions I get is about payment. I receive payment directly from the vendors that you book through. It costs you $0 to use my services! In fact, I keep an eye on all promos and if the cost of your trip decreases between deposit and final payment, I will apply that on your behalf to make sure you get the most value!
When you login online and book a trip to Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, or Universal Studios (Orlando or Hollywood), many costs are baked into the price you receive. A percentage of that cost is allocated to pay a travel agent, whether you choose to use one or not. If you choose to book on your own, you aren’t paying a different price or seeing different booking options. However, you are paying for a service that you are not receiving.
Expertise
Many people tell me, “Oh, I’ve been traveling to the parks for years! I don’t need help.” You may be just as hooked on Instagram accounts of travel influencers as I am and feel totally confident going it your own. I love a fellow Disney addict and wish you the most magical trip!
That said, as a travel agent, I complete hours of online and in-person training each and every year and am among the first to know when there are changes in the parks, when policies change, and when special events or promos open up for sale. If you choose to book your vacation through me, I will meet with you to understand your family’s needs, preferences, favorite characters, and limitations.
If your kiddo LOVES Mulan, there’s only a few places to meet her – I will make sure that item is on your itinerary and prioritized.
If you have a strict nap time requirement, I’ll make sure you have a hotel nearby your favorite parks and know how to get there with ease.
Are you a massive foodie? Do you know which restaurants are Michelin starred and offer a chefs table for dining? I won’t let you miss it!
If you are traveling with a family member who needs medical accommodation, we will talk through all that Disney & Universal offer to make sure you are well cared for.

This includes any dining recommendations, a general flow through the park, advice on where to utilize lightning lane vs. walk on, and any details important to your family.

Between 60-90 days before your trip, your reservation window will open to book sit down dining options. I am available to make those reservations on your behalf. Additionally, I have some tricks up my sleeve for hard to snag reservations!

Experiences like Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, Savi’s Lightsaber Workshop, VIP experiences, and Firework dining all require advance booking. I advise on what makes the most sense for your travel group and help to make sure those items are booked.

While I do not book flights for you, from the time you land at the airport and throughout your trip, I am happy to book private transfer services.

How did I become an Agent?
In 2022, my role in HR was a bit rocky. Days were long and I was struggling to find satisfaction in my work. I asked myself – what brings me the most joy? The answer came remarkably quickly – travel! Especially to the most magical place on Earth. I was already the “Disney Girl” in my work and friend circle so it seemed only natural that I turn my passion into a job. I found Academy Travel and with that a group of amazing supportive humans who I’ve had the joy of traveling with and learning from. I have since built a business for myself that support my own travel addiction and allows me to share my love of Disney & Universal far and wide.
